🪅 Is An E46 M3 A Good Investment
The E46 M3 is the better looking car, I think, but there’s something very tantalizing about an E36. Plus, looks are subjective, so Alex likes his E36 M3 more. 2.

There are however some things I like about the E46 M3 that the M5 is lacking (in my opinion). One of things I find pretty cool about the E46 M3 is how exclusive it is versus just a standard E46 3 series. The hood, fenders, bumpers, mirrors, side skirts, and even the rear wheel arches are different on the E46 M3 versus the standard 3 series.
If you want to code options or read other modules, you need BMW Scanner 1.4 and a Windows laptop or a similar tool. OBD Fusion is the standard smart device app that we use for diagnosis here. It can record engine drive data in a log that can be analyses in Excel etc. OBD Fusion. BMW Standard tools is good to diagnose all modules in the car.
The ordinary E46 M3 was certainly no slouch to begin with. It came with BMW's legendary S54 engine, which is a 3.2 liter, inline-six with 338 bhp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It had Double VANOS variable valve timing and a 7,900 rpm redline, with BMW Blog reporting that this meant it would scream through the rev range delivering smooth and linear
E46 M3, or E9X M3? are the same type of motor mounts. For those most interested in a vibration free mount, stick with stock. Another boring thread on “investment”. Neither would make a good investment if you look after them properly. The problem is people getting hung up on “investments” when very very few cars make good “investments.” If you have a really nice E46 M3 then that is a nice thing.
Much like the E46 M3, the E36 M3 comes from a time when BMWs were known for incredibly precise and communicative steering and purity of driving. The E36 M3 is a cult hero to many BMW enthusiasts
This car was a good deal. Yes yes, an M3 was faster. Was it better? For a current bid of $14,000, this 330i has: 103,900 miles; Rock chips; Fogged over headlights; Tires that are seven years old; A long history with just two owners; Accident-free; This car will sell for less than the M3, but there’s no “needs works” – it just is.
For a DD though, my 330ci ZSP was significantly cheaper than an M3, a good deal cheaper than a ZHP, and in the real world, it provides nearly all the driving fun while getting great gas mileage, being very low key, and with very little drawbacks. Again, the M3 is *significantly* better for driving hard. There's no comparison.
Last on our list is the BMW M3 E46 - arguably the best M car ever from the German luxury brand. The M3 is widely regarded as the pinnacle of full-on sports cars, presenting a driving experience
This 2004 BMW M3 Convertible is a good car but it’s in the least desirable spec possible. E46 Convertibles of all kinds were all kind of floppy, even with the extra structural bracing the M3
